Coming out as transgender just days after the passage of North Carolina's extremely controversial House Bill 2, Asher (he/they) has been using his music to voice his experiences and interactions with the world from the perspective of a transgender person for almost his entire career. Inspired by artists such as Green Day, Hozier, and Noah Kahan, Asher is a lyricist at their core, focusing on concepts of growth, introspection, and interpersonality. Man-Made Man, released on May 2, 2019, is an homage to his transgender identity that documents his vocal transition during his first year on testosterone.
When Asher is not working on his music, they can often be found watching horror movies, caring for his two cats and snake, mixing up new cocktails, or supporting queer and trans movement work.
